Our district serves 1,053 students with 44.6% of the district staff having a master's degree or higher. The average number of students per classroom teacher is 18. Presently the district employs 105 certified staff members and 85 support employees.  Teachers in the district have an average of 14.6 years of experience. The district's turnover rate in 2007 was approximately 3%. All buildings are air-conditioned and classrooms are carpeted.

During the 2000-2001 academic year, the State Department of Education designated the district fully accredited and named the high school an A+ School.  The Charleston Middle and Elementary Schools have been designated Accelerated Schools. Duel enrollment (high school/college) classes, articulation agreements with area junior colleges, the Sikeston Career and Technology Center, and the Gear-Up and Upward Bound programs serve our students.  The district offers a gifted and enrichment program at the elementary level and Adult Basic Education classes on campus two days a week.
